This collection contains the original index cards (fronts and backs) produced at the Army Medal Office, Droitwich. Includes those that were honoured with the Distinguished Conduct Medal, the Military Medal, the 1914 Star, the 1914-1915 Star, the British War Medal, the Allied Victory Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal, the Silver War Badge for Services Rendered, the Territorial Force War Medal and the Allied Subjects Medal.
The collection currently contains approximately 4.8 million people, which is nearly all of the total collection. The records in each release cover a wide range of surnames from all alphabetical ranges. The records can be searched by first and last name and Corps, Unit or Regiment. The Medal Index Cards collection is the most complete listing of individuals who fought in the British Army in WWI, containing approximately 90% of soldiers’ names.
